Once a check is received, the child can come to the library and choose any book he/she wants. A special CA bookplate with the child's name and birth date is printed and affixed to the first blank page of the book, and the book is shelved as normal.
Challenged Materials Policy
The Columbus Academy Reinberger Libraries support the Library Bill of Rights adopted by the American Library Association, a copy of which is available in each library.
Anyone in the Columbus Academy community may raise an objection to resources used in the Reinberger Libraries. Parents and guardians have the right to question the appropriateness of reading, viewing, or listening matter for their own children. The major criterion for the final decision on challenged materials is the appropriateness of the material for its intended use. Reconsideration of materials can be formal or informal. Informal reconsideration:
Library personnel shall explain the school's selection criteria and procedure to the concerned party.
Library personnel shall explain the particular place the questioned material occupies in the educational program and its intended usefulness. Library personnel may refer the concerned party to someone who can give further information regarding the material's use.
